No, and we'd rather lose the bigger job than build that reputation. Most of what people send us is in better shape than they think, and picking it up is faster and cheaper for everyone.

It depends on where it actually stands, which is the honest answer. Taking a look could be a fixed fee if it's complex, and the work itself is quoted as a fixed scope once we know what we're dealing with. Sometimes we do charge hourly.
Plenty of these turn out to be a day or two rather than a project. Some are bigger. We'll tell you which one you've got before you commit to anything.
No. Getting a project this far without being a developer is harder than people give themselves credit for, and we'd much rather pick up something half-built than start from a blank page and a vague brief.
Also worth saying: the messier it is, the less unusual it is. We see this constantly. Nobody here is surprised by it.
